The thematic area of the project, according to the priorities of the Partnerships sub-program of the National R&D Program, is “1.2.2 –Informatic Systems for Health and Environment (e-Health)”. Also, the project answers the specific objectives “1.3.1 Algorithms, methods/technologies and processing systems in information communication systems and of signals (voice, audio, video/images, data, multimedia) to be produced, processed, at distance transported and yielding informational content” and to “1.3.4 Devices, circuits, communication sub-systems and wireless networks”.
This project has as main goal researches, design and implementation of an electronic-informatic- telecom and scalable system, that will allow the automatic and complex telemonitoring, everywhere and everytime (at home, in hospitals, at work, of mobile subject, etc., using several communication paths), in real time, of persons with chronic illness, of elderly people (Ambient Assisting Living theme), of those having high medical risk and of those with neuro-locomotor disabilities. The complexity of the system is also proven by the multitude of physical monitorized features: electrophysiological (vital) signs, signals for domotics (home surveillance, access control in a certain area), as well as by the automatic image analysis of the movements of the subjects. Also, the system will allow automatic generation of different alarms, specific to the problems of patient.
Our project proposal represents an answer to the challenges of the society, also is approaching a thematic priority of the FP7 of the EU - “informatic systems for public services” (also see “The Communication from the the Commission to the European Parliament, …., on Telemedicine for the benefit of patients, healthcare systems and society”, Brussels, 4.11.2008, COM(2008) 689). Its implementation will allow persons having different (chronic) diseases and elderly/lonely people to be monitored from medical point of view. In this way the medical risks and accidents will be diminished. The final product – the TELEMON system – will act as a pilot project destined to the implementation of a public e-health service, “everywhere and everytime”, in real time, for people being in different hospitals, at home, at work, during the holidays, on the street, etc.
